On Saturday April 25, 2015 at 11:58 AM, a 7.9 massive earth quake struck Nepal. The epicenter was located in the district of Gorkha, 60 miles to the west of the capital, Kathmandu. There have been 3900+ confirmed dead. Authorities expect the number of fatalities to continue to climb in the coming days.

Almost all of the people in the city of Kathmandu are now living outside, afraid to enter into their homes due to continuous earth tremors. Some of these tremors are registering over 6.5 on the Richter scale!

The Pennsylvania United Medical Association (PUMA®) is poised to reach many villages in the districts of Gorkha and Lamjung where we have established health clinics & churches. Our goal is to first repair the churches damaged in this terrible disaster giving hundreds of homeless village families a place to sleep. In just a few weeks, the yearly monsoon season begins. This will bring torrential rains for several months to come.

Along with providing shelter in our churches (22), we will be providing rice, blankets, medicines and metal roofing materials.
